The Protest

I was there, missed the speeches though, traffic was grim and kids were doing an autism. Got there and spoke with a couple of people. Was absolutely shocked to see Simon there, sickened as well.

I was there with my non binary child, we had every right to be there, Reform are trying to squash my childs right to exist, and i’ll fight to the death for my babies. Simon clocked me, there were enough people there that I wasn’t worried, but of course didn’t alert my offspring to the situation

My other blog concerned how we were treated as a family by Essex County Council so I was already slightly nervous I may see someone i’ve ripped apart in the other blog. I did, but only because he turned around 4 times to stare at me as he walked past. I’ve put on 4 stone since he last saw me, I am in recovery from an eating disorder and doing very very very well, and it was clear he was triple checking it was me, that was funny.

I only found out why Simon was there retroactively when I got home again. I am so very glad that I missed the speeches. The shock of seeing Simon there in the first place was enough for me.

I’m not angry, i’m bloody furious. We are talking about a man who put in a lot of time and effort into a website that would have helped Farage and what would eventually become the Reform Party into the postions they hold today. It is partly Simon’s fault that Essex County Council have banned advertising Pride in Essex libraries as he put forth a lot of effort. He not only wrote the YourBrexit blog and I imagine he also started the Facebook group that went along with it, but he profited from it. He profited from helping a political party that is harming my children to reach a level of power where they can harm my children.

Simon Harris is a terrible person, how can he be standing there, bold as brass, clean shaven, both face and hair, making out he gives a shit about anyone who is not a CIS gendered Heterosexual? I am the most CIS gendered heterosexual woman who ever lived, trust me, if there was even a little bit of me that could be interested in a woman I wouldn’t still be interested in men.

At a protest you need to feel safe with your fellow protestors, that you can talk about the issues and not feel that someone is faking it. I don’t know what he said in his speech, but I can guarantee it was bullshit.

I still cannot get my head around why he would even be there, these are not his values, he wrote a whole website on how these aren’t his values. Why be there and make those of us whose values they are feel unsafe? I wouldn’t go to a right wing protest outside a hotel where asylum seekers are being housed. Why? because my values are at the opposite end of the spectrum than those who do. I wouldn’t be able to have a discussion with those people without putting them right.

Today you stood shoulder to shoulder with a group of people whose beliefs are at the opposite end of the spectrum to yours, solely to enhance your ego. That’s not right, in fact it’s very wrong.

Luckily i’m not concerned that you may attend any other protests that I do, unless you feel there is some glory in it for you. The only person you care about is yourself. I think i’ll be okay.

So my dearest Tattlers, I was there, but also not, because I was late. I can’t take credit for taking one for the team as I had no idea he was going to be there. I imagine he guessed who I was, the shocked expression on my face for instance, there were other clues as well when i’ve described myself in various posts. Though to be fair he may have just been gazing at my tits and not even seen my face. My tits were looking great today.

The protest was about Reform and something they have done since taking over Essex County Council, should the person in the following blog post have been there when his views were so different to the rest of us?

I did not approach Simon, by the time we got there it was all over. Simon was standing on the stairs leading up to County Hall, right near the top. I had an “I recognise that person” moment and it took me a couple of seconds.

I stayed where I was a distance from even the bottom of the stairs and chatted to people not looking at where he was on the stairs. I stayed that for 30 minutes chatting. When we left Simon wasn’t talking to anyone but was on his phone and kept on looking up. He was in the same position at the top left of the stairs as you stand in front of then and look up.

I wasn’t there for the photos either, was too late for that as well. I’m saying that so people don’t look at the photos trying to guess who I am, I’m not in any of the published ones.

I’m not angry at the organisers, I’m angry at someone who is right wing speaking up at a politically left wing protest. I’m angry that my autistic adult child was at a protest where not all of the protestors were on my child’s side.

Say what you want about anything about me, criticise my look or anything, I don’t care, but your past actions with your YourBrexit website and the accompanying Facebook group will have contributed to why the rest of us were all there.
